Episode One, Ballybrack | PHOTOGRAPHY & SUPPLIER LIST

Home Rescue returns to your screens for a brand new series, with a brand new designer, enter Dee Coleman! Dee will team up with Builder Peter and the Home Rescue team and of course all are as enthusiastic and ambitious as ever! The mission: to transform six ordinary, disorderly homes. Five days to declutter, redesign and rescue the heart of family life. Chaos beware. This is Home Rescue: The Big Fix.

In Ballybrack in south Dublin, Luke and Amy share the house where Luke grew up,  with their young kids Summer and Beau James, but what should be their forever home still feels like someone else’s. With Luke working long days at his tattoo parlour and Amy doing the books and raising the kids at home, time has always been against them.

With a poor layout and limited storage, the house is barely fit for purpose but the real reason things haven’t moved on are bittersweet memories of Luke’s late mother and brother. Unwilling to sweep away the legacy of the past, the couple have never managed to reclaim the house for themselves.

In what will be Dee’s very first Home Rescue - she sets out to create a properly functioning kitchen, but her ambitious design for the rest of the house creates headaches for Peter and the crew. They’re tasked with everything from floors, wall paneling and storage, to a bespoke headboard and a new access hatch to the attic – currently located in the ceiling of their son’s bedroom!

With no space in the garden, the clutterbusters decamp to the local community hall for a monumental sorting job. While Amy rises to the challenge, Luke is less dynamic when it comes to his extensive collection of check shirts and guitars in various states of playability.

Back at the house, Peter and the build crew are joined by kitchen fitters Benny and Bernard who arrive for a masterclass in assembling units from Cash and Carry Kitchens.

Question is can Dee and the crew turn a two and a half bed house into a three bed house, restore a kitchen with barely enough storage space for cornflakes, and give Amy and Luke the calm oasis they’ve always dreamed of? All this without losing the very thing that will make this house a forever home – Luke’s precious family history.

Goodbye Clutter. Hello Makeover.
