Episode SIX, Booterstown | PHOTOGRAPHY & SUPPLIER LIST

This week, the Home Rescue team are in Booterstown, Co. Dublin to help 53-year old Mairead tackle her clutter and home design issues.

After Mairead was diagnosed with facial cancer four years, she underwent massive surgery and lost an eye to save her life and now sees in 2D. Despite losing an eye, the irrepressible Mairead recovered, but the trauma of that time put an end to her chances of fixing the place up.

Filled with legacy furniture, dark and cluttered, the house is no longer fit for purpose, especially the tiny kitchen where keen cook Mairead struggles to find space.

Róisín arrives determined to create something special for Mairead – an open plan redesign of the entire ground floor, complete with a modern integrated kitchen.

With two sorting tents pitched out front, the massive clearout presents Mairead with a mountain of memories, old clothes and furniture to pick through with the help of her adoring friend and sister in law Margo.

Keen to get started on the ambitious project, Peter throws himself into the extensive demolition with gusto, but, much to his disgust, shatters an expensive new hob in the process!

As the crew continues with the most ambitious Home Rescue yet and Margo attempts to persuade Mairead to part with a wardrobe of clothes that no longer fit her, Róisín steps in, hoping to save the day and fill a gaping hole in the new kitchen.

Having set out to create a whole new fully functional layout for Mairead without removing the character and history of the house, Róisín decides to showcase Mairead’s extensive collection of antique furniture in the new space.

Easier said than done. Be prepared for lots of demolition and one massive transformation!
